Presidential Debate #2: Barack Obama and Mitt Romney on Real Estate

by Rylan Stewart
White House

The second presidential debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney took place on Tuesday, October 16.  The “town-hall” structure of the debate had the two candidates take direct questions from audience members, respond, and then debate back and forth. Here is what Obama and Romney said about the housing market collapse and recovery and the future of real estate policy in this country:

A whole lot of nothing.

Romney did touch briefly on the home mortgage interest tax deduction, which you can read more about HERE. Overall, the candidates managed to discuss the housing market, mortgages, and government action/intervention/regulation even less than the first debate, which only featured one brief back-and-forth about the housing crash and subsequent regulation of the mortgage/finance industries.

Why the lack of attention to housing, candidates?
